Royal Oak House
Project – European Oak Semi-circular Bow Window Hardwood Windows and Doors
Location – Royal Oak House, Hook Road, Greywell, Hook, Hampshire
Architect – Robert Adam Architects Ltd
Builder – Castellum Sp. Z o. o. (Michal Lorek)
We were asked to manufacture and install a bespoke bow window to architects drawings, as you can see by the photographs this was no ordinary bow window with a radius of over two metres all in selected prime grade European Oak.
This was quite an unusual project for us and one that we took great care in whilst manufacturing at our workshop in East Wellow. We produced full size rods so we could accurately make all the moulded timber sections and order the curved on plan double glazed units.
Above the bow window was a very large European Oak section incorporating a large cill held in place with a rebate and moulded brackets a solid fascia board was fitted above the large cill.
Situated above this was a European Oak balcony which incorporated handrail and a cill with single safety glass curved on plan and beaded.
All the European oak was finished using a Sadolin three coat system.
We were also asked to manufacture and install hardwood French doors and hardwood Windows including fitting double glazed units to architects details and fully spray finished in our workshop with a satin white Sikkens three part micro-porous paint system.
Twyford Moors House
Project – European Oak Conservatory
Location – Twyford Moors House, Twyford, Hampshire
Architect – Robert Adam Architects Ltd (Sarah Sullivan)
Builder – CastellumSp. Z o. o. (Michal Lorek)
We were asked to manufacture and install a bespoke conservatory to architects drawings, as you can see by the photographs this was a unique project produced in selected prime grade European Oak.
Another unusual project for us and one that we took great pleasure in manufacturing at our workshop in East Wellow. The large structural posts were stop chamfered with a special hand carved design. The rails had a large bevelled edge and had a stopped scalloped moulding. The panels were tongue and grooved with beaded joints. All joints were mortice and tenon and were draw bored with oak dowels.
The roof was manufactured, cut and assembled in our workshop with rafters and ridge having a very intricate moulding. The valley board was cut into the valley rafter. The valley and ridge was dressed in lead on site and the roof glazing was fitted with rafter capping.
The single glazing to the doors and frames had 12mm real leaded cams and individual panes. While the roof glass had 24mm double glazed units and were stepped and shaped where required.
All the European oak was finished using a Sadolin three coat system. We were amazed with the overall look of the conservatory and how well it suited the period property.
We were also asked to manufacture and install joinery to the new garage unit. This included a 'Z' shaped oak staircase with stop chamfered spindles, Oak one strip engineered flooring with a plywood backing, treated softwood windows finished in satin white micro-porous paint and double glazed, 3 pairs of treated softwood garage door and all the internal softwood ledged and braced doors all fully spray finished in our workshop with a satin black Sikkens three part micro-porous paint system.
